Stanley Lorell Pickering

August 3, 1937 - April 16, 2016

Stan was born on August 3, 1937 to Claude and Zelda (Pinkerman) Pickering of Redbird, and passed away on April 16, 2016 at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, California. He attended country schools in Holt County through eighth grade and graduated from Lynch High School in 1955. After high school, he taught in rural schools in Holt and Douglas counties in Nebraska. In 1959 he was united in wedlock with Florene Harris. To this union, two sons were born, Derek and Blake. Stan and Florene moved to Inglewood, CA and from there to Westminster, CA. Stan later moved to Corona, CA where he lived at the time of his death. Through the years he was employed by TWA, Hunt-Wesson Foods, Metropolitan Life Insurance, Toshiba, and Racal and had retired completely only in 2012. He loved to travel and had visited many foreign countries and parts of the United States during his lifetime. He is survived by wife Florene, sons Derek (Katharine) of Parker, Colorado and Blake (Thien) of Mission Viejo, California, two granddaughters, Anna and Aily and one grandson, Aidan. He is also survived by three brothers and three sisters, Vic Pickering of Lynch, DeLynn Pickering of Irvine, CA, Pete Pickering of Corona, CA, Marlene Pickering and Darla Pinkerman of O’Neill and Val Middleton of Lincoln, NE, many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Quentin and one sister-in-law, Irene.
